Norah O’Donnell got a special broadcast Thursday night “CBS Evening News”, her last show as anchor before she takes on a New role On the network.

Oprah Winfrey took us back through O’Donnell’s five years as anchor and CEO editor of “CBS Evening News” – an office of office that included a historical interview with Pope FrancisA live broadcast aboard the USS Nimitz and Live, on-the-earth coverage on critical news across the globe.

“Through countless hours of breaking news and nearly 1,300 broadcasts, Norah, you have dealt with every story of grace and compassion that puts world events in context, offers a hug, some laughter and a whole lot of smiles along the way,” Winfrey said.

O’Donnell called his time at CBS Evening News “an honor of a lifetime” and thanked viewers “for trusting us and welcoming tough news to your homes.”

O’Donnell will move into a new role as senior correspondent for CBS News, contributing functional reporting and interviews across CBS News broadcasts and platforms.
