Luka Doncic joins the Los Angeles Lakers from Dallas Mavericks in huge NBA trading agreement

Five-time NBA All-Star Luka Doncic has joined Los Angeles Lakers in a huge three-way trade agreement.

Doncic, moving from Dallas Mavericks, was hailed as a “one-to-one-stroke, young global superstar” by Lakers when the move was confirmed on Sunday night.

Anthony Davis, an NBA tingles of Lakers in 2020, has moved to Dallas as part of the deal with Guard Max Christie.

Mavericks also get a 2029 choice of the first round, while Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris go to Lakers.

Three-way trade also includes Utah Jazz, which gets the Lakers guard Jalen Hood-Schifino and a few elections in the second round of this year’s draft.

The dealers have left the NBA in shock. With Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant said, “It’s crazy. I would (have (have) never thought Luka Doncic would be traded. At his age, in the middle of the season.

“NBA is a wild place, man. If he can be traded then someone is on the way.

“This has to be the biggest trade I’ve seen since I’ve been in the league, or since I’ve seen the sport.”

Slovenian Doncic, currently sidelined with a calf injury, has an average of 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists per day. Fight for Mavericks since he was traded from Atlanta Hawks in 2018.

The 25-year-old guard has been an all-star in the last five seasons and completed as the league’s top scorer in 2024 to help his side reach the NBA final.

Although Doncic could be seen as James’ long-term successor, the 40-year-old showed that he can still compete at the highest level with a prominent New York screen on Saturday night.

In response to trade, Laker’s General Manager Rob Pelinka said: “Luka is a unique, young global superstar who will lead this franchise in the coming years.

“His murderer instincts and commitment to winning championships will be a driving force for the team.

“We are overwhelmingly grateful for (Anthony Davis’) six seasons with Lakers, where he brought our franchise to a championship and cemented himself as a perennial NBA All-Star.”

Maverick’s general manager Nico Harrison said Davis’ arrival could make Dallas title competitions after they were beaten in the NBA final last season.

“I think defense wins championships,” he told ESPN. “I think getting an all-defensive (center) and an all-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance.

“We are built to win now and in the future.”
