XFINITY ENDING Title Sponsorship of NASCARS SECOND LEVEL SERIES

Comcast’s XFinity Brand ends his sponsorship of NASCAR’s second-layer XFinity series in the late 2025 season before developing into another sponsor role in NASCAR, the association said Tuesday.

XFinity has served as a sponsor of the XFinity series since 2015, coinciding with the sister company NBC Sports, which began TV a Premier Cup Series and XFinity Series race across its multiple platforms that year. XFinity recently signed a one-year contract with NASCAR that leads throughout the 2025 season.

“Nascar is incredibly appreciated by Comcast’s continued partnership and their commitment to innovation and fan commitment in our sport,” said Michelle Byron, NASCAR CEO Vice President and Chief Partnership and Licensing Officer. “Their contribution in the last decade, from improving the fan experience to supporting social initiatives, has been invaluable. We look forward to building on success with our partnership during the 2025 season and beyond. “

The decision was expected and something NASCAR expected for some time, and Nascar has begun the search for a replacement sponsor. The shift comes as the CW network takes over the TV show rights for the XFinity series with 2025 the first year of a seven-year contract between NASCAR and NEXSTAR MEDIA Group, the parent company of CW Network. Before XFinity, Anheuser-Busch (1982-2007) and Nationwide (2008-14) served as legal sponsors.

Although XFinity may come out as a legal sponsor, the company will continue to have a significant presence within NASCAR, after signing a multi-year agreement to remain one of three leading partners in the Cup with Anheuser-Busch and Coca-Cola.

As part of XFinity’s changed marketing strategy within NASCAR, the company is the presenting sponsor of “XFinity Fastest Shot”, which assigns a championship point to the driver who posts the fastest single lap in each race over NASCAR’s three national series (Cup, XFinity and truck series) . The bonus point is similar to a rule word that One had in place for several years before it ended after the 2024 season.

Sports Business Journal first reported XFinity’s partnership change with NASCAR.

Why does Nascar add the fastest lap price?

In F1, where the weight of a point means much more than in NASCAR (due to the fewer number of points available for a season and race), the championship leader allowed to look for a close title match.

But it was funny as some outside-here-driver would take on fresh tires to get the fastest lap, or a teammate of another challenger would try to avert the championship leader’s hope of getting an extra point. It had the chance to give everyone else to talk about.

So it’s a worthy concept for NASCAR to try. Why not? A single point typically doesn’t add as much of a difference in the regular season – and if it does, the driver earned it anyway.

During the playoffs, it could make a big difference between promoting and not. And giving a light edge to a driver because they had a quick car is not a bad thing at all.
The strange thing in F1 is to get the point of the fastest lap could be a strategy. If a driver had a hole for the car behind him and got into fresh tires, he could run a lightning-fast lap to get points. But it will not happen often in Nascar because pitting under green on an oval would almost always mean that the driver would lose positions.

It’s still something fun to talk about. Nascar fans used to enjoy seeing an extra point assigned to the driver who led the most laps in the race, so it’s not a foreign concept either. – Jeff Gluck, Motorsports Staff Writer
