More than five years after the death of the 15 -month -old Evelyn Mae Boswell, the lawsuit against her mother, Megan Boswell, this week in a courtroom in Sullivan County started.

A magnificent jury accused Boswell in August 2020 on 19 charges, including crime murder and worsening abuse of children.

Boswell is accused of a dozen counts of lying to different law enforcement agents, including detectives with Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and FBI.

The Jury Committee for Boswell’s case began February 3rd. As the trial progresses, here is what to know about the 2020 case.

What happened to Baby Evelyn Boswell?

Evelyn Mae Boswell was first reported missing in February 2020 by his grandfather, Tommy Boswell Sr. He told the authorities he had not seen the child since the beginning of December 2019.

An Amber Alert was sent out in search of the child who launched a multistate study. Through search of finding Evelyn, police say Boswell changed his story several times about the child’s whereabouts.

First, Boswell investigators Evelyn was told with his father, Ethan Perry. Afterwards, she told investigators Angela Boswell, Evelyn’s grandmother, had the child and refused to return her. Later, she said that Angela gave Evelyn to a named person and Evelyn was safe and wanted a better life with this person.

The search lasted for 17 days and ended in early March, when law enforcement agents found the girl’s remnants inside a shed on the Boswell family property.

The presentation from August 2020 shows Evelyn’s date of death to be “the one on or around December 2019.”

The search for baby Evelyn attracted national attention, driven by Boswell’s multiple interviews for news stations and media.

Will Megan Boswell face the death penalty?

No.

In January 2021, prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty against Megan Boswell. However, she could face life in prison without triallessness.

The lawsuit is in a Blountville -Retret building in Sullivan County.

The lawsuit can take three weeks, predicts legal officials.

What are lawyers asking potential jurist?

Prosecutors and Boswell’s defense attorneys this week have asked potential jurist questions about their ability to reach an objective verdict in the case.

A handful said they did not think they could set aside their opinions to serve as impartial jury leader. Others were dismissed because they knew the defendant. Blountville’s population is about 3,200 people.

How old is Megan Boswell?
