Eddie Jordan battles ‘aggressive’ prostate and bladder cancer as F1 icon opens up | F1 | Sport

F1 legend Eddie Jordan has opened up about his battle with prostate and bladder cancer, which has spread aggressively since a diagnosis in the spring.

Talking about his Formula for success podcast with co-host David Coulthard, Jordan said: “We’ve kind of alluded to it David during the shows. Way back in March and April I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer.

“And then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive. And we’ve all heard of our wonderful friend Sir Chris Hoy, who is an absolute megastar, and he (was) going out and talking about disease like eg like what i have but he is a much younger man.

“But this is a little message to all the anchors and everyone listening to this: Don’t wait or put it off. Go get tested because in life you have chances and there’s so much medical advice out there and so many things you can do to extend your life Don’t be stupid, it’s not shy – take care of your body.

After some sympathetic words from co-host Coulthard, Jordan continued: “Well, we’re moving on, but yeah, some very dark days in there, but we pulled through, thankfully.”

The 76-year-old has been a beloved member of the F1 community since the 1990s. He created Jordan Grand Prix – which many iterations and names would later become Aston Martin – in 1991 and the team competed until 2005.

After selling his team to the Midland Group ahead of the 2006 season, Jordan moved into a radio and media career. He returned to the F1 fold as a BBC Sport pundit in a line-up that included Coulthard.

Since then, Jordan has represented Channel 4 on their F1 coverage, and in 2023 he started the Formula For Success podcast with Coulthard, discussing motorsport, among other miscellaneous topics.

The show has also hosted a number of special guests, with Mark Webber, Flavio Briatore and Guenther Steiner among the notable F1 personalities to appear in 2024.
